Valley Voices Eligibility Requirements
The Valley Voices pilot program is funded by an Applied Materials Excellence in the Arts grant.
If you live, work or attend school in Santa Clara
County and write music, we invite you to submit a
piece for string orchestra or string quartet
(4/3/3/2/1) of 5-7 minutes in length, written in the
past ten years. A movement of a longer work or a work
in progress is acceptable.
Send a copy of the score (unbound, single-sided), one
set of parts (single-sided, with proper page turns)
and a single sheet of paper with all your contact
information, a short resume, and brief list of works
and where they have been performed. Your submission
will be reviewed by composers and conductors from
outside the area that have worked with SJCO, and by
the SJCO conducting staff and concertmaster.
Three to five works will be selected for a public
reading session in downtown SJ by players from the San
José Chamber Orchestra, to be presented Wednesday
evening May 14, 2008 at Le Petit Trianon in downtown
San José.
